Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How long will it take for my loved one’s headstone to be produced?
Production times are highly variable. If we have your chosen granite color and shape/size in stock, standard production takes 8-12 weeks. Most uprights and/or special colors are considered “custom orders.” Custom orders may take anywhere from 3-6 months or longer, depending on where the granite is coming from and how much manufacturing is required to shape it to specifications.
Do I have to deliver my loved one’s headstone to the cemetery myself?
No, not useless you would prefer to deliver it yourself. Delivery to any of the Madera Cemetery District cemeteries (including Arbor Vitae, Calvary, Oakhill, North Fork, and Raymond) is included with the purchase of your headstone. Delivery outside of the Madera Cemetery District may incur an additional charge.
Do you charge a fee for artwork or mock-ups?
No, we do not charge any fees for artwork or monument mock-ups. This gives you the opportunity to design and layout your loved one’s monument with no obligation to make a purchase. All artwork, including custom artwork that can be engraved and painted into the stone, are included in your purchase price.
Where does the granite come from?
This depends on the color or kind of granite. Over 90% of our monuments last year were produced on American granite. Accent Monuments strongly favors domestic granite that is quarried and manufactured in the USA or Canada. We have two granite quarries right here in Central California. Our two local granite options are Sierra White from Madera County (about 80% of our monuments last year were this color) and Academy Black from Fresno County. To see where your chosen granite comes from and why we prefer American-sourced granite, see our Granite Colors page.
What areas do you service?
Our primary service area is Madera County, but we have also regularly produced headstones for families in Fresno, Merced, Tulare, Kings, and Mariposa counties. Accent Monuments is willing to service most of California as far north as Modoc county and as far south as San Diego county. We have even produced headstones for out-of-state clients and have been happy to make the drive east into our neighboring state, Nevada, on a handful of occasions.
For Flat/Grass markers, we are now offering shipping to the 48 contiguous states. Shipping rates are usually between $85-125 for each Flat marker, depending on the headstone weight.
How much will the headstone cost?
View our Monument Packages for standardized pricing on select headstones. We believe in price and production transparency. Our monument pricing always includes: Genuine American granite, artwork, delivery, and installation (if applicable). Some of our packages also include photo portraits.
Laser engraving, oversized photo portraits or collages, custom paint/lettering, or add-on materials such as statues or vases would be an additional charge if any of those items are desired.
What are your payment policies? Do you accept payments or offer payment plans?
Headstone and monument orders are considered “custom” projects. Once the granite is engraved, it typically cannot be corrected, altered, or re-used. For this reason, all orders must be Paid In Full prior to any engraving or production occurring. Yes, we will accept payments over an extended period. BUT we will not order any production materials (ie. granite and photo portraits) until 50% of the total invoice has been paid and we will not begin production (this includes the engraving and processing of the stone) until the total invoice has been Paid In Full. Production time estimates will be extended if your order/invoice is unpaid or if you are planning on paying via a payment plan.
